A Study of the Role of Plant Properties in Arm Trajectory Formation

چکیده
This paper describes the response of a neural-network model of an anthropomorphic arm to various patterns of activation of the arm muscles. The arm model was introduced and described in detail in [1]. The purpose of the simulation experiments presented here is to study the relative role of control strategies and plant properties in trajectory formation, namely which features of simple arm movements can be attributed to the properties of the plant alone { a study that might provide some guidelines for the design of arti cial arms. Our simulations demonstrate the performance of the model at steady-state, what movements the model produces in response to various activations of its muscles, and the generalization abilities of the recurrent neural network that implements the forward dynamic transformation. The results of our simulations emphasize the role of the intrinsic properties of the plant in generating movements with anthropomorphic qualities such as smoothness and unimodal velocity pro les and demonstrate that the task of an eventual controller for such an arm could be simply that of programming the amplitudes and durations of steps of neural input without considering additional motor details. Our ndings are relevant to the design of arti cial arms and, with some caveats, to the study of brain strategies in the arm motor system.

Optimal Trajectory Generation for Energy Consumption Minimization and Moving Obstacle Avoidance of SURENA III Robot’s Arm
In this paper, trajectory generation for the 4 DOF arm of SURENA III humanoid robot with the purpose of optimizing energy and avoiding a moving obstacle is presented. For this purpose, first, kinematic equations for a seven DOF manipulator are derived. Then, using the Lagrange method, an explicit dynamics model for the arm is developed. In the next step, in order to generate the desired traject...
متن کاملThe Effect of Base Position on Maximum Allowable Load of Dual Arm Robots
A new computational technique is presented to find the optimal base position of dual arm robots in order to carry maximum allowable load. The maximum allowable load on a desired trajectory is limited by the number of factors such as; actuators torque limits, kinematic constraints, and kinematic redundancy of cooperative manipulators. For a dual arm robot mounted on a rail or table, load works...

متن کاملAn Adaptive-Robust Control Approach for Trajectory Tracking of two 5 DOF Cooperating Robot Manipulators Moving a Rigid Payload
In this paper, a dual system consisting of two 5 DOF (RRRRR) robot manipulators is considered as a cooperative robotic system used to manipulate a rigid payload on a desired trajectory between two desired initial and end positions/orientations. The forward and inverse kinematic problems are first solved for the dual arm system. Then, dynamics of the system and the relations between forces/momen...
متن کاملThe role of Low level jet and determining the trajectory in the Persian Gulf dust storm (case study: 17-19 February, 2017)
Dust is a natural process in the desert areas. Strong winds on the dry soil surface make the particulate matter suspended in the air near the ground. In recent years, the influence of several natural factors has led to the further spread of dust in the western and southwestern parts of Iran. A storm take placed in the Khuzestan province and the northwest of the Persian Gulf, in February 17-19, ...
